Safety & Support

Student safety is our number one priority. Our team are on hand 24/7 to ensure every student is safe and comfortable during their placement. Our safety framework matches that of any school or college, all our projects are risk assessed and all our staff are DBS checked.

If you have any concerns at all, please feel free to speak to one of our team members and we will be happy to talk through any safety concerns.

Risk Assessed Courses

We use the same framework for our risk assessments that schools and colleges use. Each project and course has a complete risk assessment and our staff check each element personally before we accept students. Our risk assessments are reviewed and updated regularly.

DBS Checked Staff

All our team members hold an enhanced DBS check which is the same as any teacher or healthcare worker.

Arrival and Departures

All students are met by a Medical Projects team member at the designated airport or meeting point. We always have a copy of students' arrival details and will not leave until we have collected each student. We will not leave if the flight is delayed. On departure we will take students back to the airport and wait until they have passed through airport security.

24/7 Emergency Contact

As soon as a student gains access to their student dashboard there is a 24/7 emergency contact number. This can be saved by students and parents/guardians. The emergency contact is usually the lead member of staff on project.

Accommodation

Our dormitories are always private for Medical Projects students only.  We only allow same-gender rooms and there is no mixing within the students rooms. There are social areas where students can relax and socialise.

Flights

We provide specific airports and specific times for students to arrive within. Where possible we also try and group students together on flights so they have another student to travel with. It is also possible to use the airlines 'unaccompanied minor' service where the airline supervises them the entire journey until they are confirmed with a Medical Projects team member.

24/7 Staff Supervision

All our residential courses have 24/7 supervision by full-time Medical Projects staff. Staff stay on-site at the same accommodation and we have a female member of staff on-site every night.

Uniform & Badges

All students and staff are required to wear a Medical Projects identification badge any time they are outside of the accommodation. These badges must be worn at all times in the hospital.
