Supported By UK Doctors & Medical Students

Our UK Doctors and Medical Students design and update the curriculum for our interview workshops and clinical training sessions. We always have at least one Medical Student on each of our projects. Where possible we also have one of our UK Doctor present but this is dependant on their availability at the time of project.

Who Completes A Pre-Medical Placement With Us?

Our pre-medical placements are designed for any student applying or reapplying to medical school. Students are typically aged 16-19 years old and are wanting to pursue an advanced career in healthcare. All our placements are within our overseas partner hospitals and are fully supervised by UK staff.

Experience A Range Of Departments:

We prefer to rotate students around a mixture of departments over their placement time, this ensures exposure to as many interesting cases and experiences as possible. Here are just a few of the department you can experience:

  • Orthopedics
  • Pathology
  • Tropical Diseases/Medicine
  • Ophthalmology
  • Casualty
  • Gastroenterology
  • Respiratory Medicine
  • Anesthesiology
  • General Surgery
  • Paediatrics
  • Obstetrics and Gynaecology
  • Oncology
  • Intensive Care Units
  • Radiology
  • Dermatology
  • Nephrology

Mock Interview Workshops

We run at least 2 mock interview workshops each week that are designed to simulate certain aspects of medical school interviews. Each session is concluded with some general feedback and then more detailed individual feedback. Here are our typical interview workshops:

  • Multiple Mini Interviews
  • Panel interviews
  • Group ethical debates
  • Individual 1-on-1 interview technique sessions

Clinical Training Sessions

Throughout the week we run mini clinical training sessions that are designed to help students understand some basic anatomical functions. These are fun and interactive ways to learn some of the basics of medicine. Here are some of the different examinations we teach:

  • The body's pulses
  • Cardiovascular examination
  • Respiratory examination
  • Abdominal examination
  • Neurological examination

Hospital Mentors

During the 25 hours hospital work experience students shadow a local doctor or consultant in each department, who will explain cases and procedures. Groups of students don't exceed five as we want this to be a personal experience with plenty of time for you to discuss cases with the medical staff. All our doctors speak English, so there's no need to learn Marathi or Swahili before you set off!

UK Doctors & Medical Students

Our UK Doctors design the teaching for the clinical training sessions and mock interview training. There is no other organisation that provides this level of mentorship and training from qualified NHS Doctors or Medical Students. We always have at least one UK Medical Student on each project as a minimum. Where possible our UK Doctors also join our projects but this is subject to their schedule and availability.
