Who Completes A Pre-Midwifery Placement With Us?
Our Pre-Midwifery Placements are designed for any student applying or reapplying to gain a place on a midwifery course. Students are typically aged 16-19 years old and are wanting to pursue a career in midwfiery. Post-graduates and elective students are also welcome to apply.
Learn From Current Medical Students & Doctors
Our UK Doctors and Medical Students design the curriculum for the mock interviews and clinical skills sessions. There is no other organisation that provides this level of mentorship and training from qualified NHS Doctors or Medical Students. We always have at least one UK Medical Student on each project as a minimum. Where possible our UK Doctors also join our projects but this is subject to their schedule and availability.

Your Work Experience
Students complete 25 hours work experience per week. Students shadow a local midwife or paediatrician, who will explain cases and procedures. Groups of students don't exceed three as we want this to be a personal experience with plenty of time for you to discuss cases with the mentors. All our mentors are experienced teachers and speak English. The range and types of cases vary depending on which location you select, here are a few examples.
- Natural and C-section births
- Pre-natal check ups
- Post-natal check ups
- Ultrasound scans
- The stages of labour
- Newborn physical examinaition
Interview Workshops & Clinical Skills
We run at least 2 mock interview workshops each week that are designed to simulate certain aspects of medical school interviews. Each session is concluded with some general feedback and then more detailed individual feedback. Here are our typical interview workshops:
- Multiple Mini Interviews
- Panel interviews
- Group ethical debates
- Individual 1-on-1 interview technique sessions
Throughout the week we run mini clinical training sessions that are designed to help students understand some basic anatomical functions. These are fun and interactive ways to learn some of the basics of medicine. Here are some of the different examinations we teach:
- The body's pulses
- Cardiovascular examination
- Respiratory examination
- Abdominal examination
- Neurological examination
